We Are What We Are

Here is another poem from my archive of works, I hope that you like it. Please leave a vote at the bottom, I’d really appreciate it. Don’t worry I nor anyone else will see what you give it so please be honest and let me know what you think of it.

When we are young we think we know more than we do
Whatever our age we are usually smarter than we think we are
When we are old we think we know more than we did
Whatever our age we always want to know more

When we are young we want to be older than we are
Whatever our age we are always told to act our age
When we are old we want to be younger than we are
Whatever our age we never want to act too old

When we are young we are given things to learn
Whatever our age we always want to learn something
When we are old we wish that we had learned more
Whatever our age there is always something to be learned

Sometimes life teaches us what we don’t know
We learn what we are supposed to learn
Sometimes life gives us lessons that we don’t want
We learn many more things by living life

Somewhere we are as young as we think we are
Somewhere we are as old as we think we are
Somewhere we know what we think we know
Somewhere we are what we think we are

Yet all of those times life will teach us
that we still know nothing about it…
